Easing out of summer | OOTD

Long time no OOTD ey? Well here is another for you and hopefully in my new uni room I will have a lot more space and a better set up to do these more frequently

Now that summer has pretty much escaped us (typical) and autumn is fast approaching, I thought I would show you one of my go to outfits and a key piece to help make that transition feel not so dramatic

Stripes are a great summer piece but in darker colours can also be a statement in the autumn/winter time. Paired with some jeans and puma trainers, you can’t go wrong with something comfortable yet chic. The crepe style waterfall front of this jacket is a winner for me. It’s a great classy touch to any outfit and is a great extra piece to keep you warmer in the evenings. It also helps balance out the formal structure of the bag.

You can so some subtle accessorising with this outfit but you know what, I’ll direct you to this post for that

The Amazon Bargain

Now I know here in England summer is basically over but I thought I still wanted to throw this little post in and it might actually be useful to those of you all year round sunglasses wearers.

 

I had been eyeing up these cat eye style sunglasses for a while on amazon and at only a whopping £2.44 (or something along those lines) I thought let me just order them and give them a whirl. About 6 weeks later I then owned the black and brown pair which cost me under a fiver for the both.

They are flattering yet chic on my face shape as well as being as well as having the potential to be a statement piece for a simple outfit. Only thing they do take a little while to come and they are constructed on the smaller side so I would say if you have a wider head, maybe these aren’t the best for you but at such a low price, there is no harm in trying right?

Working With Accessories

Accessories have always been something that I loved. They can really make an outfit especially if it is of simplistic attire. And that is something I am very familiar with.

The necklaces

My go to would have to be the 3 tiered bar necklace. Simple yet sophisticated and adds a little something to a simple outfit. For those of you necklace junkies, try the layered look. It’s another great way to create a tiered effect, particularly down a plain white T with some jeans and a leather jacket.

Rings

I feel like rings look best on me when the hands are looking a little bare or in this case, with somewhat freshly painted nails. Again, layering is something possible with rings. But in this case because of my jewellery overload, I went with a simple arrangement of 2 midi rings and a thumb ring.

Ankle candy

Despite the cringey name, I feel like ankle bracelets have drifted in and out of trends for years. And for me right now, this is a winner. With the turned up jeans, they add a little something to a strip of bear ankle. It is also a great subtle way to add some colour if that’s what you struggle with.

Earrings

Now I am partial to the plain and simple studs. I find that once you start putting different patterned earrings in etc., it can start to get a little busy on the ears. These oval shaped earrings are a little twist on the classic hoops whilst being simple and sophisticated. They won’t distract from the main outfit.

Bag

No woman is complete without a trusty handbag and mine seems to be of a work chic look but I love it. Simple and small in size but sure as hell can fit a lot in it. It is also a great base piece and colour for any outfit. But a video all about my bag and what’s inside it is coming soon

Sunglasses

I am not the biggest sunglasses wearer all year round but I sure do own a lot of them. Finding the right pair for you can be tricky but I recommend one that suits your face, of a never ageing style and in a colour that would work all year round like a black or brown. But that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t stray from branching out. My go to style would have to be the cateye.

So although accessories can tricky to begin with, there are a multitude of ways to go about styling them and there are such a range to choose from. Perhaps an autumn accessories guide is on the table for upcoming blog posts.

Spring trio : Handbag Essentials

So with a no show on the Sunday post this week because I have gotten laziness down to a fine art, I bring you the third and final instalment of my trio of spring essential posts. Today we talk the handbag essentials which aren’t too dissimilar from the beauty essentials so think of it as an extension of that if you will

 

Accessories
My top two would have to be a pair of sunglasses and a hair band. Sometimes the sun is so bright, we don’t want to be squinting to allow the wrinkles to penetrate our under eyes. Whilst protecting, it is stylish and a great piece to have even all year round. A hair band is for the days when it just gets so hut, hair insulating your body is not an option. Also if your hair gets frizzy, a messy bun look will be your saviour

 

Water
The beauty must have. Heat and prolonged stay in the sun can make you and your skin feel hydrated. Having some water can help refresh you whilst also could be the answer to clearing up any skin blemishes you might have.

 

Perfume
Whether its perfume or body sprays that float your boat, these are just great to have something other than sweat. It is also something small to add to put you in the spring mood if fashion isn’t your forte. And to make it last all day, add some Vaseline before spraying to make it stay longer.

 

Oil absorbing sheets
As the warmer weather hits us, us oily skin girls will feel this oily sheen coving our face double instantly. (Like honestly I don’t get it. why does my face have to like leak oil. Wtf) oil blotting sheets, although you may get weird looks in the bathroom, your face won’t be looking like a grease ball.

The finishing touches | Holy Chic

Now just before I head out the door for a mentally draining day of school, aside from adding a bit of perfume and some body mist, there are a few key accessorising pieces that I can’t seem to leave the house without them on

Watch: something I used to wear on my right hand but I’ve learned to be a lover of it on the left. Now I just feel bare without it on and although it is just a scruffy looking hand-me-down which was purchased in the men’s section, it has become a great item to finish a look off

Rings: with my short finger nails, I feel rings just add a little somethin somethin. I wear a normal sized tied heart and a crinkle design midi ring and again, I just feel different when I’m not wearing them

Earrings: usually you will always find me in your bog standard gold studs but since recently I have found my ideal, everyday hoop earrings, those studs seem to have been replaced. They can make any outfit or dead looking face instantly better and because they are small, it doesn’t look like you are trying too hard.

Wishlist #1 | Holy Chic

This is most definitely not the first wishlist I have done but let’s just pretend it is. One of the hardest things in life I think is waiting for a cheque to clear in the bank and this is where wishlists come into action. With school fast approaching and the tears rolling down my face, I thought I would put together a few items I would be sure to pick up on my next shopping trip yet also things I thought are great basics for back to school.

It’s not a lot but for me it is all about simplicity. I try to go for low key colours so they go with everything. A pair of jeans, top and some sneakers are pretty much what I wear on a daily basis. Some dainty jewellery pieces to accessories with, a jacket for the ever changing weather and a school bag. (p.s. I already own this bag but because I love it so much, I am soo buying it again). And finally a dress/skirt and boots for any events I may need to look more presentable for at school.

So stop dreading the fact that school is fast approaching and start thinking about the fact that you have cute clothes to wear J

New In: Primark Haul | Holy Chic

I have another haul for you beautiful people because we are lacking on the fashion posts I feel. I made a regular trip to Primark the other day only for a few things and I think I stuck to what I wanted pretty well but its Primark, how can you resist any of it.

 

First up I have two oversized knit cardigans. I know you’re thinking, it is way to hot for that but they are light and airy and were pretty much what I was looking for. The one on the left is a lot lighter and of a finer knit but in my favourite colour: black! And it was only £10. On the right, that is slightly heavier but it is kimono style and if you adore kimonos but think they are too think for your liking, this is a good option. This was £13.

 

The last few pieces now. Top left I bought an oversized men’s V neck shirt for £2.50 for Dofe and some full length joggers for £5. Nothing too expensive as they will just get ruined. Okay on the bottom I bought I mini black satchel bag for £6 which I have had my eye on for some time now but I thought would be the perfect size for summer. I also bought some hair clips and an assortment of gold band rings.

There is my Primark haul! I know it is only a small one but I thought it would be worth sharing with you guys J
