5 years on the internet

I can’t believe 5 years ago I said to myself, I can do that too. Write about all of my favourite things after reading another person’s blog. Although my first post on this blog is not as far back I am saying, I have been through a lot with my blogging career if you will; from it being called (I can’t remember omg) to having 2 blogs one called I am the opportunist to then having holy chic to then being here, Amira 365 because I can only be me every single day of the year

As I have grown up within the industry, I have seen it change in such a rapid change that it left me behind and I am now forever playing catch up. To produce content like those more successful than me, to take photos like those more successful than me, to dress like those more successful than me and to be doing things that those more successful than me are doing. And a large part of me agrees with that. I want the personal photographer, the press trips, the pr stuff. All this materialistic stuff the confirms my status as a blogger. Strange right?

When I think about the title that is blogger, I feel like I haven’t earned it or better yet, I don’t have more than 10k followers to be able to use all of the cool additional features on Instagram yet still have to suffer with algorithm problems. But at the end of the day I am a blogger. Whether 1 person reads it or 100, I produce content for the internet. The only difference is that I really don’t make any money.

One of my resolutions this year is to work with more brands and collaborate and not with the mindset that this is what’s gonna get me even more money, but with networking outwards and not upwards being the aim. The blogging industry has become such a ruthless and cut-throat place that if you don’t fit this distinct blogger ideal, you’re out. But if you have something to say, you deserve to be heard, no matter how you lay your content out. I want to work with more brands to better myself as a person, an entrepreneur and a media creator, something that can better me in my non-internet life.

So, I have seen so many people come and go in the past five years and I think I may even be out in the next 5. But for now, I am trying. Trying to make it work and feel excited about this whole ordeal again. Its such a part of my life that it would feel silly to let it go because others don’t think I am adequate enough. So, here’s to the next year…or two. We’ll see what happens. Above all, thank you to the few of you for the continued support. It means more than you will ever know and keeps me coming back to blogging year after year.

Stay woke folks x

3 years later and here we are | Holy Chic

Today is special. And that's because 3 yrs ago today I decided to start this blog and make a fool of myself on the Internet. Now I can't quite recall the reasoning behind doing so but whatever it was I am sure as hell happy I did it. (Let's be real it was probably Zoella). I seem to have missed this date all too often and I have had my ups and downs with this blog. From 1 to two to a name change to a redesign, you name it, I've probably done it

But here it is Holy chic in 2016 with its own little space on the Internet.  Happy birthday little blog. Thanks for everything and here's to many more years of blogging to come ;)

Life update numero 1million?

I do a lot of these sorts of posts on my blog one because I think it’s important to maintain that personal basis with your blog readers and keep you guys in the loop. But you know what, I actually love writing and reading these posts and doing more of what you love is always a good thing.

I have had many technical difficulties with blogger which is the main reason I have been unable to upload as much as I would have like but I can’t give all the credit to technology. Behind the scenes I guess I haven’t been the most pro-blog-active?

I guess once you fall down it can be hard to get up but you know we all have those days.

In other news, I’M GOING TO UNIVESITY. WHAT?!? Crazy stuff I know. Flashback to the dreaded august 13th, I picked up my results and about 20mins later found out I got into uni. So this means that I am moving out, moving away and starting another chapter of my life. I am beyond excited and I actually leave in 2 weeks and I of course will take you guys along with me and keep you updated.

I have lots of uni stuff planned for the blog and I will most definitely not be stopping blogging during uni and I hope I can find the time to hop on at least once a week.

I guess that’s it for today but keep updated via bloglovin to know what’s going on with me.

I love you guys and thank you for everything. Let the next chapter begin.

I Am ALIVE!

So … this is me … struggling to find the words to create a coherent blog post. So please bear with me and my word vomit as my brain tries to hack this thing called blogging again.

Hello peoples. I am back and needless to say I am working on content. I am always working on content. But my MIA status has now been revoked and I now intend to keep a firm hand in the blogging pool.

As most of you may know, I finished my a2 exams way back in June and if you didn’t know, I actually went travelling. Well interrailing to be more precise. Yes me and 8 of my good friends (pardon the grammatical error here) set off on our travels to a few countries in Europe and I am beyond happy and thankful I was given the opportunity to go. I feel enlightened in the mind, soul and heart.

So I’m sure you can imagine leaving all of this behind was a task but I’m back and to its true form, England greeted me with its shitty weather. But I like it. It’s a break from the heat I was in sightseeing for about a week. On that note, expect photo diaries of every country I stepped foot in real soon. If you want to know more about my interrailing experience, let me know below and I would gladly give some advice and share my experience with you guys J

I now have a matter of days to kill until judgment day (results) so until then I’m going to fill it with marathons, blogging, getaways and work…as well as getting my life together. Oh yeah my filling fell out again. Make that the 3rd time I think?

I think I’m gonna stop rambling now because I don’t wanna hurt yours eyes or brain. I hope you all have a great rest of you summer and for most of you that broke up at “normal time”, let the freedom begin J

I leave you with a view from my travels. Can you guess where it’s from?

The Sunday Post : Unbloggable

It was only until 5pm today that I decided to not leave you guys hanging and deliver today with a short Sunday post. This week has been really eventful but un-bloggable unfortunately. But sometimes these things happen.

I’ve been a very busy girl but also a very tired one from planning events to school work to my job and trying to squeeze some blogging and filming into that. Surprisingly the workload is okay and I love having such a large workload but I just need to improve my time management skills just a tad more.

I have a million and one forms to fill out for uni, trips to book and all kinds of crazy things this month. As well as planning some potential travelling for the June/July period. But that means I am job hunting again so I can save for that, for uni and some uni necessities (well wants rather than needs). I just need a job with really flexible hours so that might be tricky.

It has also been a tough week for me where I part time work because of the stupid and rude cab drivers that exist adding to the stress of upcoming events I was head of planning for.

Aside from the potentially rambly life update, the only bloggable parts of this week was that London got some SETTLED SNOW. Not enough for a snow day and it did disappear within like 2hours but it looked pretty and walking in it to school was somewhat nostalgic. I also made a sneeky order on amazon, one of which was a new portable charger. I only really needed the lead as I have 2 already but oh well, it was cheap. I also made myself a really warming dinner yesterday of pasta in a creamy tomato sauce. Yeah I know fattening but a treat once in a while won’t hurt. And this morning, I tucked into a bowl of my favourite cereal which I devoured in an instant.

Tomorrow marks the last week before half term which I am overly ecstatic about but it is also my busiest week at school. But I shall power through. Nothing too eventful is happening next week either so the fate of next week’s Sunday post really is unknown. I’m gonna go back to playing with my adorable niece, watching frozen and taking some down time before Monday knocks on the door again.

Have a great week x

Pressing Pause

Somewhere along the way, I picked up the remote to my life and just pressed pause for everything; blogging, school and even as far as friends. Confining myself to isolation seemed to be my only coherent language recently and unfortunately as far as mostly blogging goes, that pause button is still on (I have stepped up my revision game just a little because of mocks and now that I am back at school, I am surrounded by friends).

And if I back track, I have no recollection of picking up the remote or my finger toying with the idea of pressing that button. As unplanned and impromptu this break has been, it has allowed me to have a word with myself. I have exams in June that will get me into the uni of my dreams and allow me to start the life I have so longingly coveted. My blog is something I want to grow and want it to be a specifically tailored space to match my personality and me the human being.  And I want to spend what time I have left with my friends and soak up every last hour with them because before you know it we will be going our separate ways.

So although pressing pause may be disheartening to some of my dedicated blog readers, I believe fate forced my hand to press that magic button with consequences that are only revealed once in that idle state.

Now I aim to challenge myself this year. To become who I wanted and find my solid ground on this earth. I want to be happy and comfortable in my own skin. Perhaps once I stop rejecting it, I will learn to love some part of me. But also, I want to be the opportunist whilst a realist. Snatch that glass of water away from the pessimist and drink it for myself. Because what would life be without a little risk?

Big things are happening and in order for that to register with my on and off brain, pressing pause seems like a smart idea. Don’t let the drumming noise of expectations drown you out.

Have you taken a well-deserved break recently?

Post Christmas and The 2015 Anticipation

HAPPY NEW YEAR I guess.

I took a very long unplanned break and I now feel refreshed. It is very easy to fall in this constant blogging cycle and just like that it’s easy to fall out of it for quite some time too. I hope you all had a fab Christmas and got everything you asked Santa for and I hope you can at least remember what happened on New Year’s Eve. Here are some pictures to accompany this portion of the update

These pictures were taken on the biggest Christmas present of all, a 1200D SLR camera (which was kindly accompanied by a tripod, 64gb and 128gb memory card. That is a whole lotaa filming). It is my baby and I friggin adore it along with all of the other amazing presents I got. As I am getting old, I get less but it just means I get ones worth the wait. I love love love my camera and this means better picture quality and new and better quality videos on YouTube. However I am a media student and plan to study this at uni so it was a good investment piece.

If you saw my post about being back on YouTube, I have been slacking with it but the editing software I used for it was only a trial and I don’t think I will be able to get the full version until September. I know I know but I will make it worth the wait I promise unless I can pull something out of my sleeve.
Some changes may happen to this blog over the course of the year including a new blog design (fingers crossed), potentially a new blog name (I’m looking for something not so out there beauty and fashion), and again some changes to blog content but don’t worry, I can’t be easily strayed from fashion and beauty posts. I want this space to become my mind in a digitalised format.

I am really excited for 2015 as a lot of things are happening for me this year and I will share them with you as the year progresses. I am for sure in a better place now than I ever was before which I spoke a little bit more about in my long overdue update post.

I think I have rambled enough for the first day of the year. I hope you all begin 2015 with a bang and I hope we can embrace this year together. To all of us and 2015! :)

p.s. latest youtube videos are linked below and I hope you like them :)

I was a little lost | life, blogging and everything in between

This my attempt at sharing things and opening up with you guys. Something I am just horrifically terrible at so here goes nothing

Life: I spent the first good month of my academic year if you will crying my eyes out. Shocker, I know. I was just so unhappy with life, school, friends and the aftermath of AS exams. Let’s just say I lost one of my bestest friends to them and I thought I would be able to handle it a lot better than I did. But I joined a group of people which I won't share too much on because it’s very personal to me but since I joined, my world seems to have flipped...for the better. I have made some amazing friendships and refuelled some existing ones, met the most amazing colleagues that I can all call friends and make me feel like I have a social life again and for that I will be forever grateful. I am 10x happier, 10x more confident and 10x the person I ever was (well almost. There is still work to be done :P)
In other news I have decided what course I want to do for uni and I made that decision based on what I want to do with my life and I tried not to be anyone else’s version of me. I think this is called doing what makes you happy and if it is this, then this feels awesome. I am now just eagerly awaiting that next chapter of my life which fingers crossed if I knuckle down will go to plan. I'm still having driving lessons and I know they have been going on for yonkers but I'm getting there slowly but surely. And I am now on the hunt for a job because I just need money to live on. I mean, who doesn’t?  I feel I have matured in a way that I am ready for big changes and turning 18. (I have a long way to go but a girl can still count down right?)

All I can say is that right now life is pretty freaking awesome.

Blogging: now I know I haven't been on my blogging game much but I can assure it’s for good reason. Whilst drowning in a levels, multiple essays and my recently busy schedule, something had to take a back seat and unfortunately it was blogging.  I'm not going to stop doing it that’s for sure but once I get a new schedule all written up (which is in the works), things should be going back to normal.
New directions? Over a year into blogging now, I feel I have fully discovered what blogging is and with a slight growth in my audience, I know that I want to do more with my blog and showcase more than just fashion, beauty and lifestyle posts. I'm slowly going to start introducing more photography posts, opinionated posts and perhaps sharing my love of writing scripts, stories, film and the media. So this is your warning so be prepared for that.
And I'm working on new blog design but I don't think even god knows how long that’s going to take :P

So there you go. My life recently rolled up into one big blah on the internet. I hope you don’t mind an incredibly long and text heavy post just this once but I think it’s important to share with you guys :)

Hope you are all having an amazing day/week and I will be back with a post very soon. New stuff is heading your way.
