Today's Treats #3 | Holy Chic

It has definitely been a while since I have done a Today’s Treats post so I have brought it back as I did a little bit of shopping these past three days so I want to share it with you. Enjoy!

These past three days I snapped and had to buy something. I just couldn’t take not buying anything but I didn’t buy any clothes which I still see as a bit of an achievement. I first picked up a NU craze notebook because I am taking a few online courses and wanted something to make notes in. I also picked up The Fault In Our Stars which is currently £4 on Asda and I just had to because everyone is telling me to buy it. I also picked up a felt tip eyeliner from the PS range at Primark and that will be in a buy and try post to come soon. I also picked up a pack of earrings because u just wanted some more basic ones. I also picked up four pairs of sunglasses which is ridiculous but oh well! The first and the fourth pair are the same just different colours, the second pair is matte black and cat eye shaped and the third pair is black and round. They were all £2 except for the round ones and all come with a case.

I hope you guys liked this and more of these will be coming soon but until then...

And I now have Instagram ! Please go an follow me there for behind the scenes stuff as well as stuff I don’t necessarily show you on my blog or twitter J

See you guys with a new post really soon!

Confessions of a full time student and blogger #1| Holy Chic

I bring your eyes another series from my blog were every now and then I will give you the low down on all things school and blogging.

It really is crunch time for me at school and it’s where everyone is panicking about passing their first lot of a levels and I guess I am too. But try adding a blog on top of all of that and trying to keep content coming as regularly as possible but to also make it interesting is a tough job.

And that long piece of text just sounded really cliché but it is true but... wait for it...

I have kind of found a way to dig myself out of the hole I put myself in by neglecting my school work and blog. So I give you six tips to help restore the balance in your life between blogging and school work (as well as a social life of courseJ)

1.       School comes first: now you are probably thinking this tip is a piece of crap but I promise you once you realise this, everything kind of falls into place. It is all about prioritising. Blogging for me is a form of escape from school work so the quicker you get it over and done with, the quicker you can blog. Simples J

2.       Blog in bulk: usually on a Saturday or Sunday morning is when I like to write as many blog posts as possible as well as take pictures. This gives me more time to do work during the week and the sun is nice and bright if you use natural lighting to take all of your pictures. Plus it just saves so much time if you haven’t really planned anything but there will always be that one post that you have prepared  in case of an emergency

3.       Schedule posts and tweets: I know sometimes we all have so much stuff to do that there is no time for social media so why not try scheduling posts to upload or even tweets. That way you can always be on social media without actually having to be on it.

4.       I don’t know about you but in my school I have free/study periods and at least one a day. So if you have something like this, make the most of it and get all of your work done at school so you have more time to blog or chill at home

5.       And finally, I just thought I would give you some quick and easy post ideas if you have ever fallen behind on blog posts and need something to fill the gap
à song of the day
àOOTD
àstyle crush
àquote of the day
àmakeup/beauty must have/bag essential

6.       Most importantly, I think that people forget that you shouldn’t feel like you have to post. If you are out of ideas, have no inspiration or something along those lines, you don’t have to post anything. Find a schedule that works for you or if being spontaneous and sporadic with your schedule do it.

So I hope you guys like this and let me know what you think of the little series. Coming up next time will probably some revision tips J

Until then...

See you guys with a new post really soon!

New in: Beauty/Skincare Haul | Holy Chic

Hola! – Its haul time J

Yes today I have another haul for you all but it is beauty/skincare related and it is all from the 99p store haul which makes everything 10x better.

I am going to try and do more of these because they have some amazing stuff in there and some really well known brands so I think I should share more of them with you J

So without further ado, let’s see what I bought

1.       First up I have Clean and Clear advantage spot treatment. I saw this in Asda not too long ago and was like whoa, I am not spending that much (it was I think like £4 but still, that’s a lot considering I am on a budget) so I was so happy to find it in the 99p store

2.       Next, is the Vaseline Compressed (I repeat, compressed) double invisible deodorant. These are a little bit pricy considering there is less packaging so I had to grab it while I was there to add to the multitude of deodorants that I already have ... J

3.       Next is the Garnier essential regenerating eye cream. This is honestly the teeny tiniest thing I have ever seen but I just thought you can never have too many eye creams right? (That is literally my justification for everything). But it did look interesting so I wanted to try it out. (Coming soon to a buy and try post)

4.       Here I have the T-Zone tea tree and witch hazel exfoliating facial wipes. Now, the one I had before, from Primark, were really good and actually you get 5 more wipes for one penny extra but I want in the area so I picked these up instead and it’s supposed to contain spot clearing agents but we will soon find out!

5.       Next I have three hair oil treatments because I freaking love them. The first is an argan oil one which works wonders for my hair and the next two are macadamia oil ones and I just wanted to see if there was any real difference between the two. Plus, the packaging is beautiful.

6.       Next is the L’Oreal elseve hair repair oil. I didn’t read the label of this properly and you are supposed to use this between shampoo and conditioning not as a substitute heat protecting spray but I could just give this to someone.

7.       Here I have the 360 surround manual toothbrush. I have the electric one, forgot to buy batteries and I wanted a spare toothbrush. Story of my life.

8.       And finally I picked up two more of the Kleenex eye makeup remover wipes because sometimes they don’t have them so it’s better to have too many than none at all.

So that is it for today, we have come to the end of the 99p store haul. I hope you liked it and let me know in the comments if you definitely want to see more hauls like this.

But until then ...

See you guys with a new post really soon!

A Blogger Interview With... #2 | Holy Chic

Hey guys! So today I have another instalment of A Blogger Interview With…

Introduce Yourself..

What's your name?

Hello! My name is Anita J

What is your blog's name?

All Things Anita

What is your blog about?

I tend to call it a Beauty and Lifestyle blog, but really it’s a huge dose of beauty and a dash of lifestyle mixed in every so often.

What is your favourite thing about blogging?

I love that my blog is my little corner of the internet to talk about my thoughts and opinions on beauty products & life in general. It’s amazing how far I’ve come from thinking that little to no one will be interested in what I have to say! The blogging community is brilliant as well, with any queries/concerns being attended to within minutes of posting the subject on targeted Twitter trends such as #bbloggers #fblchat and #tbloggers.

 And your least favourite thing?

My least favourite thing would be that when you’re new to blogging some can get really worked up with regards to comparing themselves to other bloggers/bloggers who have “made it”. It really doesn’t matter whether you have 1 follower or 1000 – at the end of the day we’re all human, and I just wish some people would relax about it and focus on being themselves, making their blog their own.

The Questions...

What is your favourite kind of makeup product to wear?

My favourite would have to be base makeup as I’ve always had problematic skin and it’s really just one of those things I use makeup to conceal.. rather than to enhance. I feel that if my face as a whole looks good even without the common must-have mascara, I’m ready to face [no pun intended] the world with confidence!

The world is ending soon and you are only allowed to repurchase 5 makeup/beauty products. What would they be?

My holy grail is a good coverage concealer, so I think it would have to be Illamasqua’s Cream Concealer; next would be Elizabeth Arden’s Eight Hour Cream, which is a cult beauty product that I could use pretty much anywhere on my body so it’s bound to come in handy; and finally if you’re making the effort to look nice, you should at least smell clean/fresh – so deodorant/body spray would be ideal and for that I’d choose Dove Green Tea and Cucumber deodorant which smells absolutely amazing.

What products do you swear by?

To be honest, I don’t have specific branded products I have to have in my routine, although in general I would say a good oil-based makeup remover is essential to ensure that my skin is free of makeup particularly on nights where I’m too tired to cleanse my face properly and want to climb into bed as soon as possible.

I guess I also swear by waterproof mascara formulas as they’re seemingly ones that would work with my extremely stubborn Asian lashes which point downwards and refuse to hold curl.

Do you like to repurchase your favourites or keep trying new things?

Despite the contrary of being a “beauty blogger”, I don’t actually find myself being sucked into the latest releases in the beauty section of department stores and drugstores. So for this I’d say I tend to repurchase my favourites, but would try a new product if the one I’ve just used up didn’t do a good job.

What makeup/ beauty products are currently on your wish list?

Currently I have a couple of skincare products on the back of my mind I’d like to purchase after I complete my Project 5 Pan – La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo +; Real Techniques Kabuki Brush and Dr. Organic’s Snail Gel as well as a few more are patiently sitting on the shelf of shops for me to pick them up.

How would you describe your style?

I don’t really have a style to be honest.. I’m not one to follow trends so I just stick to basics.

What item in your wardrobe could you not live without?

My fluffy sleeping socks. I love love love sleeping socks and could wear them all year round!

Do you prefer to splurge on one item or buy lots of items with the money you have?

Both, if I’m 101% sure after lots of thorough research that I will love a particular product forever I will be willing to splurge on it. However, I am, but I’m also not that picky with beauty products so I’ll choose the latter for things such as lip stick and eyeliner.

 Any style icons?

Nope, I tend not to follow trends J

What fashion/accessory pieces are currently on your wish list?

I’m not into fashion.. and I can’t go clothes shopping to save my life! So I’m not the best person to ask in terms of fashion advice..

What is your favourite type of blog posts to write? Beauty, fashion or lifestyle?

Probably beauty as I’m hopeless at fashion, and lifestyle is more subjective than beauty in my opinion.

 The Extra Few...

If you could have any blogger guest post on your blog, who would it be and why?

I can’t think of any bloggers I’d like in particular to guest post on my blog – anyone would be welcome!

If you could go anywhere with anyone in the world, where and who would you go with?

I really don’t mind where in the world, as long as I’m with my boyfriend it all that matters! Sounds so cheesy, but he’s amazing and anywhere, everywhere doesn’t matter as long as we’re together as we’re 430 miles apart and I only get to see him in person every 10 weeks or so L

Any books you are currently reading or wanting to read?

I’m currently reading The Hobbit, by JRR Tolkien, I’m not a huge fan of the LOTR series but this seems to be a good sequel.

 Describe your typical day

I’m in full time education so a huge chunk would be attending college, then to return home in the evening to do some artwork and finally relaxing/blogging!

When you are not blogging, what would we find you doing?

Probably sketching or watching a film.. or researching a [new] beauty product I’m considering purchasing!

What are your most favourite posts to write?

Admittedly, not really reviews – although I love taking photos for them. I don’t think I have a favourite type of post I enjoy writing, actually.

Have you/do you ever want to start a YouTube channel? If so, what kind of videos would you post?

Long before I started to blog properly I attempted to upload videos on YouTube but I have always tried and failed, it’s hard to explain why but I just can’t see myself being a YouTuber! I think I’m more of a Blogger.

What opportunities has blogging brought you?

It’s been amazing to physically meet girls of my age and upwards – and to put faces behind blogs, it was a surreal moment when I realised last week when I attended my first blogging event to meet those who also blog about beauty.

Tell us a fun fact about yourself or something your readers don’t already know about you.

I wouldn’t say that I’m addicted, but I’m near enough glued to social media and the internet for at least 16 hours a day.. which is unhealthy. But hey, at least I’m doing something productive out of it by running a blog instead of endless hours of browsing through tumblr..
