#FashionFebruary: Week 4 | The Kimono Edit | Holy Chic

I cannot actually believe it. Firstly, to the fact that this is the last post of #FashionFebruary but also to the fact that it is the end of February. Like seriously, where has the time gone?!

So yes you read correctly, it is the final week of Fashion February and we end it kimono style. As per usual, I will be showing you four different looks with four different kimonos so without further ado, let’s unveil the looks.

Look 1: Tumblr-esque
kimono
Jeans
Trainers
Watch
T shirt

Okay, I have no idea why but this look reminds me so much of Tumblr and honestly I would wear this. The pink and purple floral tones stand out against some of more of the basics incorporated in the outfit. I think I should just let the outfits talk for me here.

Look 2: Nude Attire
Kimono
Skirt
Bag
Ankle boots

So this kimono has a built in top so that saves you money and wardrobe space I guess. This kimono gives great gratitude to a very delicate Japanese style at new look prices. Best of both worlds right? (I’m making no sense so...) I found this nude a line skirt which is a very popular cut at the moment and these boots which I am dying over right now and a bag to tie the look together.

Okay so not only is this look for you lovers of the black on black, it also adds some colour to the tassel detailed kimono with the red of the poppies. I really wanted this look to be predominantly black so the kimono could do most of the talking and this would look great with an up/high ponytail do and a bold red lip. Work the make up with you. The chunky chelsea style hells add height which could be interchangeable for day or night.

Look 4: ditch the coat
Kimono jacket
Skirt
Bag
Earrings
Jumper
Ankle boots

Okay so it is starting to get a little bit warmer here so I opted for a jacket style kimono. Again, I wanted this to be the most predominant thing in the look so I left it to the accessories to finish it for me. I paired it with the same boots as look 2 because a) I love them so so much and b) I think they work well with the outfit.

So there you have it. The sad conclusion of the kimono edit and fashion February. So that is all of the looks I have created. I hope you liked it and found something there for you. If you did, get involved in the twitter chats using #FashionFebruary and tell me what you thought of my post or perhaps how you would style kimonos. I personally love the way they look on others but not necessarily myself but if I had the opportunity to buy everything in this post, I would.

Let me know your favourite look in the comments section below. Keep up with the #FashionFebruary talk here: https://twitter.com/search?q=%23fashionfebruary&src=typd

I don’t want this to end so I may continue creating a topic of the week for myself and creating looks for you guys because I honestly had so much fun doing it.

Until the next post I guess …

#FashionFebruaryy Week 3 | The Tartan Edit | Holy Chic

Hello there internet.

Umm ... okay ... I don’t know how to start this really but it is week three of the #FashionFebruary posts and we had to style Tartan with sunglasses. Is that sufficient information? Lets move on swiftly before I start saying irrelevant things.

Being the people pleaser I am, I created four different looks incorporating tartan and a pair of cat eye sunglasses from ASOS so let’s get into the looks

I don’t know why I felt this was an appropriate name but to me, when I see this outfit, I invision a university student. This skirt featured as well as the jacket and shoes are currently on my wish list so I couldn’t not include them. It’s an outfit that I would definitely wear.

I felt like with this coat you can’t really tell the entire outfit is predominantly black. The cult classic red and black tartan is something everyone should have in their wardrobe. I have kind of gone with the look the model is wearing to keep the overall outfit simple and classic. This outfit would be a great for transition from day with the sunglasses for a chic look and to night by just switching the ankle Chelsea style boots for some strappy heels.

Plaid as a layering piece is another great way to incorporate it into your style for a more casual laid back style. I combined the shirt with a plain white top, a basic everyone must have (wait I don’t think I even have one L opps!), some light wash boyfriend jeans, leather jacket, necklace and those boots which I need in my life and finished it off with the sunglasses for a chic city girl look.

Look 4: The Jumpsuit
Jumpsuit
Sandal Heel
Sunglasses
Jumper
Watch

A basic name yes but I feel not enough attention is given to jumpsuits. Underrated I guess you could say. I kept this outfit mostly black and white for those of you stuck in a rut. I then completed the looked with an oversized gold watch because I felt it was mandatory.  I have no more words for this except it could be dressed up or down by switching up the shoes and jumper for a daytime or evening look.

So that is all of the looks I have created. I hope you liked it and found something there for you. If you did, get involved in the twitter chats using #FashionFebruary and tell me what you thought of my post or perhaps how you would style tartan with some sunglasses of your choice. Also, let me know your favourite look in the comments section below. Keep up with the #FashionFebruary talk here: https://twitter.com/search?q=%23fashionfebruary&src=typd

Today’s Treats #2 | Holy Chic

Hey guys!

So today is another quick spur of the moment post and seeing as my today’s treats post went down well last time, I thought I would continue with them. So without further ado, here is what I bought on my trip to Asda.

So from left to right (ish) I picked up the L'Oreal eye makeup remover because they had it on offer for £1.75 and I just couldn’t walk away from that deal. I also picked up some apple juice. It was £1. I think that is all that needs to be said. Go the latest issue of Company Magazine which is a must and was a great read. Picked up a project book because it was £1 and I need a new blogging book for ideas and scheduling. A new Nivea lip balm because I lost my cocoa butter one and again was on offer for £1. Some pomegranate seeds because I was craving them. And some breakfast biscuits which were on sale but they don’t taste that great. They are far too sweet as they have both honey and chocolate in them. Pure yuck.

So that was everything I bought on my little trip to Asda and I hope you like these kinds of posts. Until next time ...

#FashionFebruary Week 2 | The Harem and Ear Cuff Edit | Holy Chic

This is not a sponsored post!

Hey guys!

So this is week 2 of the #FashionFebruary and this week, we had to style harem pants and the accessory being an ear cuff. Two very contrasting items but in actual fact go very well together.

So as you probably already know by now, I am a bit of a people pleaser so I have created two looks for two different types of harem pants and ear cuffs. I will stop the chit chat now and just get straight into the two looks I have created.

I called this look the basic three because of the three basic colours/tones that I included; black, white and grey. Those are great base tones for anyone to have in their wardrobe and all three colours go with everything. These jogger style harem style pants are great to dress up or down. I went for a casual chic look and incorporated a crop top with a leather jacket and a hat to mix things up a little bit. I finished the look with some white high top converses because you can never go wrong with them and a silver toned ear cuff for a more grunge look and too keep with the cool/almost icy colour palette. I love this outfit as well because it incorporates a lot of basics that I think every girl should have in their wardrobe. This look would be great for busy uni student.

Okay so for this look, I went a bit more on the tailored side of things but still kept it very simplistic and a simple colour palette. I teamed these black structured harem pants with a fitted blazer, a whit oversized tank top and some Zara inspired sandal heels, much like the ASOS website did. Great minds really do think alike J okay then because I felt the look had a really monotonous tone (if that even makes sense) so I added this arrow brass toned statement necklace and the ear cuff of choice was a simple gold chain one to keep the look professional yet chic. This look would be great for the professional.

Now in my opinion, I actually really like harem pants because they are a great medium between casual yet professionally looking and I adore the versatility of them. They are great to be dressed up or down and I think are a great staple piece that every girl should have in their wardrobe. However for the ear cuffs, I have always thought they looked amazing but I don’t think I could ever pull them off. I think that they could be purchased anywhere and I didn’t find any particular shop that I loved them from. However, for the harem pants, I highly recommend checking out ASOS for them because they have some really cute casual ones to some great professional looking ones and I may have to order me some of those.

I hope you guys like this post and if you did, get involved in the twitter chats using #FashionFebruary and tell me what you thought of my post or perhaps how you would style the harem pant an ear cuff. Also, let me know your favourite look in the comments section below.

The Valentine's Day Edit | Holy Chic

Hey there people of the internet!

Today I am going to be doing an outfit ideas post for Valentine’s Day post. I’m sure if you have someone special to spend the day with or if it’s just a day out with your girls, I’m sure there is something for you in this post. I completely forgot to do a post with just a pyjamas outfit idea but that’s totally optional and is probably what I will be sporting too. We can be pyjama buddies right?

Anyways, let’s get into the outfits. Again apologies for excluding a pyjamas outfit option but if you check out my Grabble page, you can get some ideas for that there J

Look 1: Bubblegum Flirt
Dress
Socks
Converses

I really had a teenager in mind for this outfit and pictured a cliché year 11 girl outfit going out with the boyfriend who is a really girly girl. Don’t ask why just roll with it. Please?! J So I kept it with the cult classic colour of pink but of a cooler tone for an ease in transition into spring. It is an overall cute girly and flirty outfit. Back to valentines basics I guess.

Look 2: Breaking Tradition
Jeans
Peplum Top
Necklace
Shoes

For this look, I guess I had the stereotypical Valentine’s Day outfit of a red dress and heels but I just though no but went for all cute in black. Peplum is still quite a huge trend in right now with some high waisted skinny black jeans; keeping the overall look very chic and slimming. I finished off the look with some cute slipper flats and a gold statement necklace. Perfect for those who don’t want to bare that much skin.

Look 3: The Oriental Express
Kimono
Midi Dress
Necklace
Heels

As soon as I had set my eyes on that oriental inspired kimono, I knew what this look was going to be called. Oriental inspired, I chose to focus on the red within the kimono through the red court heels and berry coloured statement necklace. And I kept the rest of the look simple with a black bodycon midi dress.

This look is for those who want to keep it more casual on Valentine’s Day with the focal point of the outfit being the printed trousers. I kept the rest of the look predominantly black with a black leather jacket, heel Chelsea boots and a crop top. I picked out the gold undertone in the trousers and accessorised the look with a gold chain necklace.

So I hope you guys liked this Valentine’s Day outfit ideas and I hope this helped at least one of you reading this. Let me know in the comments which one was your favourite J

Buy and Try: February | Holy Chic

Hey guys!

So it’s the beginning of February and that means that it is time for the second instalment of my Buy and Try series.

So I will just back track a bit here, if you don’t know what my buy and try series is, it is basically where every month I will go out (or over the course of the month) and find products that I really want to try. Then in the next post, I will show you some new things that I picked up to try and review the things that I tried in the month before. Again, I hope that makes sense to you people.

But before you continue reading this, I highly suggest that you check out Januarys buy and try post now here so that you can see what the actual products are that I was trying out and also get to know my initial thoughts on the products.

Okay now that hopefully you have done that, I will give you a brief review and my thoughts on everything I tried. So let’s get started.

1.       The Victoria’s Secret fragrance mist in Mango Temptation. I am already a big fan of Victoria’s secrets body mists so it’s no surprise that I love this one too. It is sweeter smelling than the one I already have (Honeysuckle and Jasmine) but it isn’t over powering and makes you feel nauseas when you spray it. It lasts all day and the fact that I only paid £6.99 for it makes me love it even more.

2.       The Oh My Gem glitter nail polish by Miss Sporty. This nail polish was so good considering it was only £1.99. I had it on New Year’s and it lasted for two weeks more. It has really great glitter pay off and you only need a standard two coats for that and top coat is optional. However, it is a real pain in the ass to remove so I suggest either applying a base coat first for using it on top of another nail polish. Because it becomes a real chore to remove it but other than that, great value for money.

3.       The nail enamel dryer by DeMert. This was definitely designed with the impatient in mind. It doesn’t dry the nail polish completely for me but it protects it so within like 2 minutes after applying nail polish, you can get back to what you were doing. Cuticles feel softer and is an all round great product for only £2.99

4.       The L’Oreal 3 in 1 purifying lotion.  I have now become part of the 99% that loves this product. What can I say, it is really gentle on the skin, removes makeup so so so so well, tones the skin really well and well, if this is what Bioderma is like, I am sooo excited to get my hands on that products. The only annoying thing is that it is a pain to get out of the bottle and isn’t something quick to use if you are in a rush in the morning but still, it’s okay with me.

5.       The Tresemme ultra fine hairspray was okay. Nothing too special in my opinion. Definitely better than other hairsprays that I have tried to I will still be on the hunt for a better one but not much to complain about this one. I still would recommend it.

6.       The Simple Revitalising Under Eye Roll On is something I am really unsure if it did anything or not. It hydrated my eyes and was easy to use and light under the eyes but did it do everything it said on the box? Not so sure. But it is still something I would use if I am going for a very fresh faced look. Not bad but not amazing.

7.       Palmers concentrated hand cream again is something that was okay. I was disappointed that I didn’t fall in love with it because I love Palmers products but it was okay and I did find myself applying it several times a day because it couldn’t combat my dry hands. But once on it was moisturising and yeah, that’s it really.

8.       I also tried the tea tree cleansing wipes. I didn’t like these too much. I didn’t find anything special about them and was just another pack of wipes I don’t really want. Any wipe could do what it does and I think even me just using my hands to clean my face did a better job. DO NOT BUY! NOT WORTH IT.

9.       The Royal shader brush was just something I felt every girl should have at least one of. It applied my eyeshadow really well and was big enough to coat my eye in one sweep. After all it is just a makeup brush so I don’t have that many things to say about it.

10.   And finally I tried the Argan Oil Heat Defence Leave In Spray. I smile as I type this because I loved this. It protects my hair so well and makes my hair smell really nice after too. I have reduced split ends and I just would highly recommend this product.

Okay so that is the end of the review of all the products I tried for the month of January. If you have any additional questions, let me know in the comments and I will try and answer them for you ASAP.

Okay so now on to the products I will be trying out for the month of February

1.       This is the Ted Baker Body Lotion and I picked this up at like a warehouse thingy near where I live and was about £2.99. Mostly bought it for the packaging, not even gonna lie about that there but it smells really good and I can wait to see if it lasts all day.

2.       Next is the Cone Henna. Basically my friend told me Asda was selling henna for £1; me and my other friend felt like we needed some henna so I went and bought it. I am excited to start using it so yeah!

3.       Next is the Este Lauder Splash away foaming cleanser. It was something my mum bought and she gave it to me so I can wait to try this out. It is a cream with a slight iridescence to it so I am excited for that. Oh and it is for normal/combination skin and I definitely have combination skin so I am even more excited about this product.

4.       Next I have the Superdry Neon Purple Female Fragrance. I was looking for a fragrance to keep in my bag for on the go and this seemed perfect. I cannot describe the scent right this minute but it smells good and apologies I don’t have the price.

5.       And finally I have this Este Lauder Lipstick in the colour Tiger. This seems like a perfect shimmery nude colour and I have a few events coming up so this should be perfect. I don’t love the smell it gives off when you open the tube but we will see next month if i can get over that.

Okay guys so that is if for this instalment of my Buy and Try series. Don’t forget to come back in the beginning of March to see my thoughts in February’s products and what I will be trying for the next month.

#FashionFebruary Week 1 Post | The NUMARI Dress | Holy Chic

This is not a sponsored post!

Hey guys!

So I am back with the first post of February and well I am sure you have guessed from the title, it is week 1 of the #FashionFebruary. Click the link to keep up with it on Twitter!

Okay so let me put it this way, I am a bit of a people pleaser so instead of creating one look like we were supposed to so I guess, I made three. Oh I’m such a rebel. JK! So using the NUMARI Diagonal Block Sheath Dress, we are to design an outfit complete with 5 other items to go with it. So I begin with using one dress to create three looks.

Hope you like it J

This look is designed for the person who keeps the trends in mind. As well as pairing it with a collarless jacket which will be a huge trend for spring 2k14, but also I played with the nude tones in the dress. I added some warmth to it with the pattern and colour of the jacket and picking out key colours from that to accessories with. I finished the look off with some black heeled ankle boots and some hair bows for a cute look.

Okay there is something very regal about red and gold mixed together and with the predominate colour of the dress being black; I thought this would be perfect and also a possible Valentine’s Day look if you wish. Again i played with the nude colour in the dress in the accessories of the clutch and chain necklace but added the bold red colour. Coloured biker jackets are a huge trend coming up for spring and who doesn’t want some classic strap heels right?

And for the final look, I had the business woman in mind. A very clean and sleek look. Again bearing in mind the nude colour in the dress, I used it to my advantage and matching it with the heels, necklace and bag and went for a vibrant gold colour (if that is even possible) for a slick ponytail look in the hair. And completed the look with a blazer because everything looks smarter with a blazer.

So there you go. One dress styled three different ways. I hope you guys like this post and if you did, get involved in the twitter chats using #FashionFebruary and tell me what you thought of my post.
