Let's Rewind

With an unfortunate skip on the Sunday post and being a little MIA on pretty much all of social media, I make my return today. I basically drowned in the bliss of half term and an extra day off thanks to staff training days. But I was sure not to fill you in just a little into the ventures of last week. (Well the key parts)
Aside from not doing any work, first and foremost, I made a trip up to Leeds with one of my good friends. I wanted to check out the university and we gave ourselves plenty of time to explore and get a feel for the surrounding area. And I must say I fell head over heels for it and I was close to abandoning good old London just to absorb its beauty a little longer. I did a little bit of shopping and you will be happy to know that I bumped it all in a haul and filmed it for you. Enjoy my loves J

I guess that really is the only big thing I did during my hectic half term. Through the lazy days, the driving lessons and a spot of filming and editing, I might as well squeeze a few more of my latest captures in this post.
I don’t want to bore you with me detailing maybe even to the day what I got up to but let’s just say, some of these things will be featured in blog posts soon, it’s in my most recent video or I was simply just lying down in my bed doing none other than watching television. And how could PANCAKE DAY have almost slipped my mind?!? Let’s just say, the pancake fairy ate 12 pancakes all to herself and refused to share ;)

Apart from feeling a little guilty for not even taking a peek at my school work, I think with blogging I might have hit a bump in the road. I know that this iddy biddy corner of the internet is not where I want it to be and I am hoping that by summer I can change that a little with a proper blog design and business cards. But I also feel unfulfilled. Or maybe the word is unsuccessful. I don’t feel I have accomplished much. i know you shouldn’t compare but how many followers you have or events that people go to but I intend to use this as constructive and up my game even more. It’s a big world and I am sure the blogging community can make a little more room for me.

This could be a Valentine's Day look

Now I am not one to usually follow the herd and get consumed by the surge of Valentine ’s Day tutorials, gift guides and outfit ideas that grace our screens these days. I tend to steer well clear of them as it can all be a little too much valentine overload. But today I thought as I had a makeup look in mind to share with you guys at a later date, why don’t I just turn it into a Valentine ’s Day make up look. Smart. I know.

This look is most definitely not just for those spending it with that special someone but if you are having a girls day or just want to put makeup on your face, that’s cool. I combined a copper coloured eye with a maroon almost wine coloured lip. But obviously, you do not have to put an ounce of makeup on your face that day. I know I will be in a onsie having a bed and laptop day for sure. But I do wear this look every time I go out because I just lack originality.

I hope you like the look regardless of what you are doing or what day you choose to recreate this look. I just happened to take the thematic approach.

Products used

MUA mono eyeshadow in shade 28
Nuxe rev de miel lip balm

Eyeko eyelash curler
Mascara wand as eyebrow spoolie

Sponge eyeshadow applicator
Eyeshadow crease brush

W7 eyeshadow primer
Benefit roller lash mascara

Clinique high impact mascara
Collection liquid eyeliner

Bourjois rouge velvet matte liquid lipstick ‘Grand cru’

There is no magic trick behind this look really as I am just simply awful at applying makeup but I just packed the mono eyeshadow all over the lid and dragged it underneath my bottom eyelashes with the crease brush as it comes to a point which is great for that. Its also great to add a little brightness to the under eye area as the winged eyeliner can make your eyes appear smaller. I then did my everyday winged eyeliner and finished off the look with a maroon/deep red liquid lipstick. It didn’t budge all day and it stayed in place whilst I was eating with no touch ups required. I put some of my nuxe lip balm underneath to ensure it wouldn’t be drying on the lips.

There you have it. My valentine’s day look for any of you but my everyday going out look/I need to look somewhat decent for society for me.

Any plans for Valentine’s Day this year?

The Round Up: Mascara | Holy Chic

It’s time for another instalment of my roundup series and today I thought we could check out my mascara collection

First up is the Maybelline colossal volume express mascara. This has been one of my favourites for quite some time now and I love it for those more natural looking lashes. It gives great volume and a decent amount of length for me

Next is the Estee Lauder Sumptuous mascara which has now dried up but I think it deserves a mention. This at the time gave again really great natural looking lashes with some added volume and a bit of length but I really don’t think it is worth the price tag.

Next is the Fibre LashXtend mascara by Model and Co and I have to say, I really didn’t like this. I found that it just coated my lashes with product and didn’t really do anything. I keep this because it has a little mirror glued to the side of and can sometimes be nice as a top up throughout the day

Benefit. That mascara that everybody knows and pretty much everyone has. Benefit They’re real mascara has pretty much been a favourite of mine since the beginning. I love the wetter formula of it and with the plastic brush gives an amazing false lash effect.

And the newest to the family is the Clinique high impact mascara which is the little dark horse of the bunch.  Have done a more detailed post about it here if you want to know more but so I don’t give too much away, two mascaras I have already mentioned, had a baby and produced this. Can you guess?

I hope you liked this round up of my mascaras and don’t worry; another in this series will be coming soon because I kinda like doing these to be honest

Have a great day

The Usual Suspects | Holy Chic

Every day when I begin to get ready, I have come to realise that there are some products that I just use without fail. And you know what; I am going to share those with you right now J

Primer: it’s a must for me because I can’t deal with looking like a greasy pan all day anymore. The Nspa instant blur primer is the one I turn to.

Moisturiser: the face cream that has no faults. Palmer’s cocoa butter is one I have been using for years and don’t plan on stopping that any time soon.
Eye moisturiser: The garnier eye roll on is something my eyes appreciate in the morning. It has a great cooling effect and gives my eyes a boost of hydration

Eyebrows: I am not one to fill in my eyebrows but I do love a good spooley brush just to put them in their place
Makeup remover: Whether its makeup wipes or a liquid remover, the garnier micellar solution happens to be the one at the moment. Greta for makeup mistakes in the morning on a cotton bud and all over the eyes and face at night

Hand cream: The inecto hand and nail cream is where it is at really. Great all day moisturiser and travel friendly
Lip balm: The nuxe reve de miel does everything my lips wants. Keeps them moisturised, hydrated, lasts all day and on top of that, smells frickin amazing.

The body spray: if you know me, you will know that I always have Victoria's secrets fragrance mists on me and this so happens to be the mango nectar and hibiscus one. Great for all day use and can be used as a top up throughout the day

So those are the products that I use everyday without fail. Tell me some of yours below J

Have a great day J

Buy and Try : September | Holy Chic

As promised, the buy and try series is back. Apologies that this wasn’t up in august but its here now.
Just as a quick reminder to you all , my buy and try series is basically where every month I will go out (or over the course of the month) and find products that I really want to try. Then in the next post, I will show you some new things that I picked up to try and review the things that I tried in the month before. Again, I hope that makes sense to you people.

So here is a rundown of all of the things I tried out way back in June ;)

1.       Ted Baker body wash – I really liked this. It smelt great and was defiantly something I whipped out for a relaxing pamper evening. But I really don’t want it to run out so I am going to be saving it for more special occasions.

2.       The Moisture lip balm trio by M&S – I did want a change in the lip department and I got that slight change I was after. Because they were all tailored to do different things, I really felt that each did what was written on the tin.

3.       NSPA Instant Blur Primer – my primer needs were fulfilled with this little gem. It really mattified my skin and held back the oils on my face. But as I am now nearing the end of it I feel like it isn’t working as well as it used too. Just something to bear in mind.

4.       Vo5 Ultimate hold hair spray – this really gave me the hold that I needed. It doesn’t weigh down my hair or leave a sticky residue but just holds my curls in place.

As for the products I will be trying out for the month of September, bring em on!

Kleenex facial cloths, Clean and Clear morning energy shine control facial wash (anything that will reduce shininess on my face, I am an absolute sucker for it), The body shop foot and leg gel (believe me, I find this a little weird too) and Simple eye makeup remover.

See you all in October (jheez how time flies) with the next instalment ;)
