Friday favourites #3

I haven’t done one of these ones in a while but every so often, its good to take a look back at the things you have been loving or testing out. I can never get my head around having different favourites every single month. I think that stresses me out more than it should. But this way, I have more flexibility in the amount of times I upload.

Favourite items

I am loving the new range that Maybelline have released. I never fall for the hype of new launches but when I was on the market, I stumbled upon the colour temptation range. Firstly, the mascara smells amazing coconutty and I hate coconuts. Its so much lighter on your lashes and really easy to take off. The brow definer is also great for carving out a shape for your brows and they don’t budge at all. Really great release and I am so impressed with those two products.
On the flip side, I have gotten into reading again. Shamefully, I have not read a book properly since English ALevel. It really put me off and I was buying books I felt I had to read and not ones I really wanted to. But I’ve found a book that I’m only 100 pgs in and I am hooked. Its called close to home all about a girl who has gone missing. A vague synopsis but I highly recommend it if you like crime/mystery books.

What I’m watching

Think everyone knows that friends is finally on Netflix and I have noticed that not all of the episodes are complete but I think that says a lot about me. Having started it on new year’s day, I think I am two far ahead for the average human and I am just glued to my ipad screen these days.
I also watched This is Us in like one day and I highly recommend it. Like such a coming of age story with lots of different layers woven into the narrative and such a beautiful story. So many times I had to pause it just to get my emotions in order.

Although not tv, I have loved watching crime/mystery videos on youtube. I have loved tv shows of this genre for as long as I could remember so this little part of youtube is great for me. I particularly love Danelle hallan, Bella fiori and Georgia marie. But so many people are doing them now

Let’s listen

Considering I recently got my spotify subscription back, I have really been enjoying music again. I love discovering new artists and you know, playing a song over and over again until I am sick of it. Right now, anything not3s and mabel is just my jam, I am loving Troye sivans new music and ansel elgorts song supernova. I love the song bad by steel bangles and the song empty room but the cabu remix. And isn’t finesses just the greatest song you have ever heard. Just what I needed. Music has such an uplifting quality about it that it just puts me in the best mood.

Fashion favourites

You guys know from my previous hauls and PLT review that I have been loving the sales section. In particular, I have been loving the outerwear section and have added two new coats to my wardrobe from ASOS and Zara. Two very different pieces and probably both unnecessary but they were just what I felt was missing from my wardrobe. The puffer more for now and a street style look and the longline coat will be great as we move into the warmer months and an allrounder occasion piece.
As I move more fashion items into my wardrobe, I am parting ways with other items on my depop account which I highly recommend you check out. TOO MUCH of the stuff I sell is never worn so if you like bags, oversized pieces, adidas or a plus size girl, I think I have something for you. My username is amirasw and it would mean soo much if you came and said hello.

Something to think about

“Always keep fighting because no matter what, you deserve to live the life you have”

This is a quote I conjured up, but it may also exist on other parts of the internet just expressed in various other ways. But I put this quote on my new years resolutions/bucket list. After all the crap that I dealt with last year, I felt like this was necessary to get me in the right head space for the new year. So far, so good.

Let me know some of your favourites below because I apparently love spending money I don’t have.

Stay woke folks x

Things to do this week #2 | Holy Chic

So as it is still the new year, I’m sure we could all use some help in finding something to do this week eyy?

Watch it: Jessica jones. Yes you need to do it. It’s the perfect mix of superheroes, a strong female character and David tenant

Do this: check of a days to do list. Whether it is go for a run or read some of your book, get productive in January

Listen to this: the undisclosed podcast. I have to thank Beth for alerting me to this but if you loved the Serial podcast on the case of Adnan Sayed then you will love this even more. Delve deeper into the case with this podcast.

Take a break: why not have a mini UK getaway. Travelling fuels the mind; even if it is only a few miles away

Try this: the 2016 memory jar. Fill it up with all good things that happen to you over the year and at the end of the year, go through it all and see how good the year actually was for you.

The Sunday post : some sort of picture round up

Guess who’s back back back, back again again again…

Yes the lifestyle related Sunday post is what I have for you guys today and I have missed the weekly lifestyle snippets on the blog. But sometimes when you don’t do anything, it really isn’t worth blogging about.

I think the most noticeable thing in this post is the food. All of these pictures did span over the course of a couple of weeks but food is a necessity, food is good and food can also look pretty.

I also had a little toast on mother’s day and I am quite partial to a glass of champagne. Am I now a little high maintenance?

If you thought that was the apparent solar eclipse, no but it was taken about a week ago (dance break) and it just looked pretty on my way to school. Yes occasionally I am one of those that has to take a picture of their surroundings. But like seriously, did any of you guys see the eclipse? I stood in the cold for no reason :(

Also on the “work” side of things I typed up 60 pages worth of revision notes which is a lot considering I had written them out beforehand. And I have been leaving some time to watch gossip girl. I have been having my usual at school more than normal recently ( hot chocolate and muffin) which has been great comfort food for the tough week. And yes, I have Starbucks at my school :)

I won’t keep you too long this week as I need to revise for my test tomorrow and my theory test. I’ve had a whole day of filming, 6hours of sleep and I am simply knackered.

Pray for me.

Have a great week everyone :)

The Sunday Post : XOXO

I really have left todays Sunday post until the last minute to type words onto a page but better late than never right?

This week, although it didn’t feel like it, has been surprisingly jam packed and again, unbloggable. But I didn’t want to drag another one of those cats out of the bag.

I finally booked all of my hotels and train tickets for all of my little getaways for this month and although they are only small and for a very good reason, I am excited nonetheless and I’m sure they will be making a debut on the blog shortly. I also thought for some stupid reason that it was time to watch gossip girl. I know I know, you’re probably thinking WHY HAVE YOU NOT SEEN IT YET. But I can assure you I’m loving every minute of it right now and you best believe I paused an episode just to write this post.

I also took the hint with another set of podcasts in fact. Yes I am now listening to the Serial Podcasts and I am OBSESSED with it. (That might even be an understatement). I have always loved real life murder mysteries and a good who done it never hurt no one. I have started to slow down the rate I was listening to them to because it is so good, I never want it to end. And Sarah Koenig has a dream voice.

My final amazon order finally came in the post this week in the form of a book. Most of you might know that I actually despise reading and if you don’t, I’m sorry you had to find out this way and please don’t kill me ;). But I think studying English has just ruined that for me. I am excited to get stuck into the book upon recommendation and not have to worry about what the lines mean or how it can be linked to context. No highlighter or annotations are getting anywhere near this book.

I think Valentine’s Day may have extended this year over 2 days with the release of 50 shades and all. My school special for Friday was a hot chocolate with whipped cream and marshmallows and what a better way to wish yourself a happy Valentine’s Day that with a sweet treat for yourself. On Saturday I actually spent it with my one and only bae; my bed. No better day than to be lazy in bed and watch TV all day.

And we have made it to today, good old Sunday which annoyingly was another lazy day so I’m gonna start my work tomorrow. And because half term is here, I will enjoy waking up to birds chirping over my alarm telling me to get my ass out of bed. But I did make a grilled cheese and tomato toastie for brunch I guess you would call it and I devoured every last piece of that heaven on a plate. I pan fried it this time so the toast was nice ad crispy. Is that the right adjective if an adjective at all? Can you tell I’m an English lit student?

So I have detailed my week to you, tell me something about yours below. Next week is another busy one for me and I will be sure to capture what I can because sharing is often the best kind of post to get you out of a blogging rut. I hope you all have a fabulous half term

xoxo gossip girl

(Can you tell I’m really into gossip girl?)
